What is National Park Krka?
The Krka National Park is a protected area located in southern Croatia, along the Krka River. The park is named after the Krka River and is most famous for its series of waterfalls, including the Skradinski Buk waterfall, which is the longest waterfall system in Croatia and is considered one of the most beautiful in Europe. The park is a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1979.
The park covers an area of around 111 square miles (29,000 hectares) and includes not only the Krka River but also the lower course of the Čikola River and the lower part of the Krčić River. It is located near the cities of Šibenik and Skradin, and is easily accessible by car or boat.
The park is home to a diverse range of plant and animal life, including many species of birds, fish, and mammals. There are also many historical and cultural sites within the park, including the medieval Monastery of Visovac, a Franciscan monastery that dates back to the 15th century.
